Will Smith reveals what he thinks was the ‘worst’ movie he ever starred in
Will Smith has shared what he thinks is his “worst” movie in his long career.
The actor has spent more than three decades appearing on our screens, racking up 76 acting credits to his name and even earning himself an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
But he’s now admitted he’s not overly impressed with all of his roles.
Speaking to GQ, the star revealed that one movie in particular was a “thorn in the side.”
Asked by the post about what he believed to be his worst movie, he replied, “I don’t know, Wild Wild West is a thorn in my side. Seeing myself as a guy … I don’t like it. “
Alright, mate – there aren’t a lot of guys who can pull a pair of leggings, so don’t be too hard on yourself.
The 1999 film starred Smith and Kevin Kline as special agents in a strange, steampunk-style Wild West.
The duo were tasked with protecting US President Ulysses S Grant (who was oddly also played by Kline) from an evil scientist bent on revenge for the loss in the Civil War.
Sounds, uh … interesting.
Wild Wild West has a less than fantastic 4.9 / 10 on IMDB and only 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.
When asked what he considered to be the best movie he’s ever been in, it was a joint first place for two of his films.
He explained: “For the best, I think it’s a tie between the first Men in black and Pursuit of happiness.
“For different reasons, these are the two almost perfect films.”
And no one had to wear leggings, which was a bonus.
This isn’t the first time Smith has spoken openly about the weak spots in his career – in 2015, he told Esquire After Earth, which also starred his son Jaden, was “the most painful failure” of his career. Ouch.
He then compared Wild Wild West, saying: “The Wild Wild West was less painful than After Earth because my son was involved in After Earth and I drove him there.
He added: “It was excruciating.”
The film touched him so much that Smith says he worked for a year and a half and worked on himself to figure out why it was “so important” for him to have movies rated number one.
