Ryan Gosling to play Ken in Margot Robbie Barbie movie
Looks like Margot Robbie’s Barbie movie has finally found its own Ken – in the form of Ryan Gosling, according to Deadline, who reports the star is in “final negotiations” to play the iconic character.
“Given his busy schedule, Gosling gave up playing the role at first.
“But insiders add that as pre-production dragged on and the studio remained persistent with him being their only choice, an opening in his schedule appeared allowing him to sign up.” , said the entertainment media.
They then added that the film now appeared to be on the verge of being lit green, with hopes of filming “at the peak of 2022”.
Plot details are pretty slim on the pitch at this point, but we know Robbie will also co-produce under his direction Fortunate Entertainment production banner, alongside the company’s Tom Ackerley, and Robbie Brenner and David Heyman of Mattel.
LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Ynon from Mattel Kreiz are also on board as executive producers.
The Warner Bros. movie is too directed by Greta Gerwig, whato co-wrote the script with the partner Noah Boambach – the duo is also behind Phone pold movies like Greenberg, Frances Ha and Mistress America.
According to Vulture, if production kicks off next year, there are plans to release the film at some point in 2023.
When Robbie was confirmed for the project in 2019, she said she felt ‘honored‘to embody such a beloved character.
