Reverend Harold E. Petersen’s recently published book “The History Books of the Old Testament” provides readers with a clear explanation of Joshua, Amos, and Jeremiah.

“The History Books of the Old Testament: The Account of God’s Interaction with His Chosen People: Joshua 21:45, Amos 3:7, Jeremiah 1:5”: a compelling discussion of God’s connection with key biblical characters. “The History Books of the Old Testament: The Account of God’s Interaction with His Chosen People: Joshua 21:45, Amos 3:7, Jeremiah 1:5” is the creation of the published author, the Reverend Harold E. Petersen, a Wisconsin native who attended Waldorf and Concordia colleges. Reverend Petersen was a missionary pastor/teacher in Ethiopia for six years.

Reverend Petersen shares, “The Word of God, the Bible, has been an essential part of my life. We had family devotions. I went to Sunday school and learned verses. In confirmation, we studied the Bible and the catechism. And worship texts from the Old Testament, epistles and gospels were read every Sunday. These keep drawing me into the Word.

“I was in high school when I started reading the Bible in a year. As I read, I marked verses that had special meaning to me. Some chapters were so filled with gems of truth that I chose several.

“The Books of History reveal to us the account of the acts of the Lord God with his people, the family of Jacob or of Israel. The story begins as they cross the Jordan, conquer the land. We read the troubles of the time of the Judges. We follow the reigns of Kings Saul, David and Solomon. We feel the distress of the divided kingdom and the time of exile. These books are important for our life of faith. The details have been written so that we can avoid the same sins. I am drawn to the magnificence of the grace of our God as he forgives the sins of the people and calls them to obey.

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Reverend Harold E. Petersen’s new book will encourage Bible students in their quest for a deeper understanding of God’s Word.

Reverend Petersen’s passion for spreading the good news contained in God’s Word and promise is evident in this helpful Bible study resource.
