Kristen Stewart likes to read books aloud to her girlfriend, especially East of Eden
What have you been doing during the pandemic? Maybe you have seen the entire dusk saga. (No judgment.) But when we asked Kristen StewartOscar-nominated for her deep dive into Princess Diana for spencerhis answer was much more literary.
“Me and my girlfriend are reading East of Eden out loud, like through and through,” Stewart said in the latest EW Reward podcast, instantly upping the ante for your Zoom book club. “She’s never read it before,” the actor says of screenwriter Dylan Meyer (who she’s engaged to), “and it’s kind of like my Bible. It’s like a sacred text to me. Reading is a personal experience. You usually do it alone, and I was like, ‘Man, we should do this together, like every word out loud.'”
It sounds romantic, and Stewart agrees. “Honestly, we’re going to do a book a year now,” she adds, mentioning that the pair also shared a close read of The Wuthering Heights. (Stewart insisted on doing all of Cathy’s lines: “I’m a control freak.”)
“You cry together,” she explains. “That’s the cool thing about sitting in a movie theater with everyone. You say, ‘Look, I know I’m emotional right now, but I just feel a lot more emotional because we’re all here crying.'”
