Another Nightmarish ‘Pinocchio’ Movie Is Coming (But This One Looks Good)

As Marvel brags about its next 30 years of projects, another fantastical universe is quietly taking hold of contemporary cinema. Hollywood’s biggest names – Tom Hanks, Guillermo del Toro, Cate Blanchett, Pauly Shore – are all in cahoots: The industry won’t stop until all entertainment revolves around a puppet/human/ nightmare. It won’t be long before the whole world rides the Pinocchio vague.

Oscar-winning legend Guillermo del Toro has released the trailer for his new Netflix stop-motion animated film, Pinocchio, which is due out later this year. In the clip, Ewan McGregor’s sage Sebastian J. Cricket (maybe a riff on Jiminy, if that J stands for what I think he means) introduces us to the story of the wooden boy.

“From my many wanderings on this earth, I had so much to say about imperfect fathers and imperfect sons,” Sébastien intones. “I want to tell you a story. It’s a story you might think you know, but you don’t.

Many of us probably do thinks we know Pinocchio’s story by heart, especially after Disney adapted the classic in 1940. But del Toro promises to give the character a new twist, saying he has a “personal connection” to the character. NewPinocchio The trailer, which has garnered positive reception online with what appears to be a dazzling new take on the story, shows the director’s passion for Pinocchio.

Still, fans are a bit confused by the story. Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro is set in Italy amid the rise of fascism in the country in the early 1900s, and the animated movie plans to incorporate that into the main storyline. We might even see Pinocchio enlisting in the military, which is a weird thought. A wooden boy? In uniform?

“He is recruited from the military camp in the village because the fascist town official thinks that if this puppet can’t die, he would make the perfect soldier,” del Toro said. vanity lounge. A jurassic world turn on Pinocchio– just what we all need. But if there’s anyone who can do this gonzo story well, it’s Guillermo del Toro.

The Pinocchio hive, wherever you are!, offers a range of wooden boys this year. First, Pauly Shore dubbed a bonkers animated version of the movie that went viral on Twitter. Watch this movie if you like chaos and A wacky movie. Note: Everyone should love chaos and A wacky movie.

Soon Disney will also be releasing a live action version of Pinocchio starring an “unrecognizable” (read: wearing a white wig) Tom Hanks as Gepetto, Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, and Joseph Gordon Levitt as Jiminy Cricket. The day I am forced to watch Joseph Gordon Levitt play Jiminy Cricket will, sadly, be my last day on this planet.

But for now, there’s this trailer for del Toro’s point of view Pinocchiowhich features a host of lovely people including Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson. Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro will land on Netflix in December, with an exclusive theatrical release the month before it airs.
