Addicted to books: prepare some holiday traditions with the family

The kitchen truly becomes the heart of the home during the Christmas season. Between the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it can be difficult to focus on the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus – and to create meaningful, faith-based family traditions that can be passed down from generation to generation. One of the traditions we practiced as a family when my children were young was to bake Christmas cookies and gingerbread houses in their grandparents’ house. The process of baking and cooking with your children or grandchildren gives families the opportunity to slow down and have fun.

Christmas baking is a timeless joy and creates a lifetime of family memories and recipes. As time passes, holiday traditions may change, but the special memories of time spent in the kitchen with the family over Christmas will be something everyone will always cherish. Below is a small collection of faith-based cookbooks with recipes, ideas, and activities that will help you create that special family tradition. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
